No. 31: Oma Mango; now this is the one I’ve been looking for all summer. There’s this one (which has 100% natural colours and sweeteners) and then the Solero one (which I’m not sure if it exists anymore), but they taste pretty much the same. They both have a heavenly mix of vanilla ice cream and bits if mango covered by a frozen mango juice… I believe that this is the best ice cream there is, so I highly record tasting it if you can find it. (I only found it from a hardware store for some reason…) (at K-Rauta Välivainio)

(From yesterday:) No. 30: Fazer Salmiakki; much like the Tyrkisk Peber, but not quite as good. The taste was good and fresh, and seemed to go really nicely with a nice and hot day. The liquorice on top was easy to bite, too, and the ice cream itself was quite big. Pretty good and naturally worth the try. (at K-market Ritaharju)

(From Sunday:) No. 29: Fazer Tyrkisk Peber; this one was double-super excellently good. The liquorice topping did exactly the opposite than the Magnum and Marabou; it was easily biteable. The taste just simply was really good and the mixture of liquorice and vanilla was just perfect, so I figure this one will be in top 3 easily. (at Oulujärvi)

No. 28: Marabou; this is a good example of chocolate breaking off too easily (no, not in clean thin rolls like on the cover), like with the Magnum yesterday. The ice cream itself is quite good, a simple, basic vanilla with chocolate type of ice cream, but it is really difficult to eat because you have to first break off a good chunk of the chocolate on the top, and then take a bite. This one would be a lot better if it was smaller in size (thinner, narrower), but because it isn’t, it is laborious to eat and also quite expensive when compared to other ice creams of the same size and price range, which have much more delicate and exotic flavours (the Daim cone (cones, if we also count the strawberry and pear flavoured ones), for example, is way better). This one is worth tasting, but since ease of eating isn’t one of its strong aspects, I’ll rather buy something better tasting and easier to eat when I’m buying for ice cream.

No. 27: Magnum Strawberry & White; accidentally opened this one before taking a pic since it was such a hot day and I was afraid of it melting. This is also one of my favourites, although there are a number of things I don’t like about it. Like yesterday’s Ben & Jerry’s, this also has a nice and summery taste thanks to strawberry and chocolate, but they also are the main problems I have with this ice cream: The strawberry as a flavour is very strong, and as anyone who has eaten fresh Finnish strawberries can agree, it has a too sweet taste. Play it down a bit, let the taste be there but not overwhelming and *fresh* instead. The white chocolate then again doesn’t have anything wrong when it comes to taste, but the layer of it is a bit too thick, so it is hard to eat (pun intended) and especially the sides break off too easily. The thickness and sharp edges don’t help with the chocolate breaking off either. The “Strawberry & White” is good, but not *that* good, period.

No. 25: Eskimo (strawberry); stopped at a gas station today and this one was essentially the only one of the three ice creams they had which I hadn’t tasted. It has a good taste, but it’s nothing too special since you’ll usually buy a box of fifteen Eskimos anyhow. Basic, but nice on sunny days.

No. 24: Hurmaava Kinuski; stopped on the way to Ukkohalla, and decided to have another ice cream since I missed eating one yesterday. This one is easily one of the three best ice creams there are. Superb in every way, absolutely nothing that could be done better.

No. 21: Puffet (strawberry); this one comes a bit late since I forgot to post it on Thursday. The taste of strawberry is fresher than most strawberry ice creams, but it could be a bit more intense still.

No. 20: Mövenpick Swiss Chocolate; another one on the go and another chocolate ice cream. I still don’t like chocolate ice cream, but I gave this one a chance since I prefer Swiss chocolate to others, and this one isn’t too bad. Mövenpick itself is a good quality brand, chocolate is not gonna make my top 10. Ever. (at Oulun Lyseon lukio)

No. 18: Pingviini Vaniljainen Pullamuru; enjoying a post-fixing-blinds once cream earlier today. Pretty good ice cream, and I’m beginning to think that the weigh in this line is on “vaniljainen”. This one is not either (see no. 6) vanilla ice cream in the end, but rather they just have a hint of it. This of course is marvellous and the focus of the taste is actually on the one on the side of the box, instead of the ice cream only having small pieces of whatever the taste would be amidst vanilla ice cream. Not as good one as the “Lakuvaahtokarkki” one though, but pretty good still.
